A new ecosystem for Axie Infinity is scheduled to launch by the end of Q1, 2022. The new ecosystem, known as the Axie Infinity Origin (Battles) V3, is a major upgrade to the current V2, with additions such as a brand-new interface, game mechanics, art, special effects, storylines, and an onboarding experience.

The developers have introduced these additions in order to increase the game’s appeal and make it more approachable for the mainstream audience. Axie Infinity Origin will also contain improved mechanics to make battles more engaging and fast-paced than the V2.

According to the release plan, there will be an initial launch of the alpha version. The developers will then gather feedback from the experience of the global audience, analyze it and effect an upgrade to the game, called Season 0. Season 0 will serve as the final test launch before the game is released to the mainstream audience.

What’s New About Axie Infinity Origin (Battle V3)?

Real-Time Selection of Cards

Currently, in V2, the players will have to choose the cards simultaneously at the start of the round. This feature is upgraded in V3, as players will now take sequential turns during the match to select their cards.  In other words, players will now select cards and play them in real-time, rather than playing a pre-selected group of cards.

Cards Will No Longer Accumulate

Another change to the game comes in what happens with unused cards. For V2, unused cards accumulate and players can save them up and use them in the next round. But in Origin, unused cards and energy will no longer accumulate. So, players won’t be able to apply the strategy of skipping a turn and saving energy or cards.

Six Cards Per Axie

Card descriptions and effects will also change, along with the attack and defense value of each card. Players should also expect a slight alteration in the number of cards per Axie, from 4 cards to 6, as ears and eyes will now provide cards.

New Power-up Mechanisms: Runes, Charms, and Moonshards

The developers have also hinted at the introduction of new power-up mechanisms. Runes and Charms will equip your Axie to gain various buffs and enhancements. Players will be able to make their Runes and Charms themselves using a new resource called Moonshards which you gain by battle along with SLP.

Just like the energy and cards do not accumulate, Runes, Charms, and Moonshards do not accumulate as well. The only difference is that Runes, Charms, and Moonshards expire after a season, not after one round.

This means that players will have to continuously hunt for resources to upgrade their Axies. In addition, players can disenchant depreciated Runes and Charms to recover some resources for crafting.

Players can also collect or get the extremely rare Legacy Runes and Charms as a reward.

Introducing Rage

The developers introduced a new feature called Rage to eliminate randomness in critical hits, which often affect the game’s outcome. A unique feature of Rage is that it will also accumulate throughout the battle and can be used against opponents.

Who Is Axie Infinity Origin For?

The Axie Infinity Origin caters to those who cannot afford to get a team of Axies. Numerous starter Axies will be available to play the game free, both in Adventure Mode and Arena Mode. These Axies are not NFTs and will not earn SLP rewards. So, the free mode will not come with the opportunity to earn.

Be that as it may, Axie Infinity Origin players will still be able to gradually unlock different features as they progress through Adventure Mode (PVE).

Conclusion

Finally, a vital point this new version addresses is the education of players. Players need constant education on the best war strategies. So Axie Infinity Origin will provide a catalog of tutorials to players to help them adapt to these new changes.

Players can also revisit the tutorials to review new mechanics and features anytime.
