Why Axie Infinity Winning Strategies Are a Must Have
Axie Infinity might be a card game. But it also incorporates the mechanics of strategy games like chess. To be successful, you have to create or formulate a strategy before going into the arena to battle.
The game is a literal game manifestation of the popular saying that “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”. In the game, every move counts. So they must be planned, calculated, and precise.
You might have a more expensive team of Axies and lose to someone with a team of floor axies. It all boils down to your strategy!
By the way, it’s possible that card games are just not your forte. In that case, you can check out this article and explore other types of NFT games that you can explore right now.
My Top 7 Axie Infinity Winning Strategies
1. Know Your Axies
First things first, before going into battle, you should know your Axies and their areas of strength and weaknesses. I consider this the basic and most important strategy in Axie Infinity.
Let me explain.
There are different forms of axies. Actually, there are nine of them, and they are grouped into several classes.
The tank/support class includes plant axie, reptile axie, and dusk axie.
The support/damage class includes the bird, aqua, and the dawn axie.Â
And then we have the damage/tank class, where you find the beast, mech, and bug axie.
Naturally, these classes of axies have their strengths and weaknesses. So, while every axie can do damage, the level of damage varies from class to class. While some will literally create world war III. Others are just, you know, meh.
But remember that the key to winning in Axie Infinity is to inflict more damage on your opponent. That’s why my first strategy is to know your axies so you know how to inflict the most damage. Knowing this single fact helps you decide the best axie to attack with and when.
How Much Damage Can Each Axie Cause?
Based on the axie class cycle, some classes of axies inflict 15% more damage, while some inflict 15% less damage on others.
Damage/Tank Class Vs Tank/Support Class: For instance, in the arena when an axie from the damage/tank class (which can either be a beast, mech, or a bug) attacks a tank/support axie (the plant, reptile, or dusk axie) it inflicts more damage.
But the opposite is the case when the roles reverse. The tank/support class inflicts 15% less damage than the damage/tank class. This is why I’m trying to explain to you that activity is not all that matters in the arena. What you want are calculated activities that help you produce the greatest reward.
Support/Damage Vs Damage/Tank Class: The support/damage class inflicts 15% more damage on the damage/tank class. While, on the other hand, the damage/tank class inflicts 15% less damage on the support/damage class.
Tank/Support Vs Support/Damage Class: Also, the tank/support class inflicts 15% more damage on the support/damage. While on the flip side, the tank/support is weaker against the support damage and inflicts 15% less damage on the support/damage class.
I know this looks like a lot to store in your head. But the more you play the game, the more familiar you’d be with the different axie classes and the level of damage they cause.
So, if you know the axie class cycle, looking at your opponent’s team of axies makes it easy to formulate an attack strategy. Knowing this does not guarantee you a win in every match, but it certainly will increase your win probability.
2. Your Positioning Matters Too
Another strategy that impacts your game is your positioning. But this strategy comes after knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your axies. Here’s why.
In the game, an axie attacks the enemy axie closest to it. So, you have to use your knowledge of the strength and weaknesses of the different classes of axies here.
Having the best team of axies is not enough. You might have the best team of axies, but you also need good positioning. And that’s why I’m going to give you this very important positioning tip.
Always put a tank axie, e.g. plant axie, at the front in your team. Place a support axie (like aqua, bird, or dawn) as your mid-liner. And then your backline is your major damage dealer. So, you want to put a damage axie as your rear guard.Â
The backline is the axie that wins you the match. So, it’s logical to have your main damage dealer last.
This positioning always works. Try it and thank me later.
3. Learn Your Cards
The axieverse has over 132 cards, and you may ask yourself how possible it is to memorize all these cards. But the good news is, you don’t need to memorize all the cards. You just need to familiarize yourself with them and how they work.
Each of these cards has a specific function, and knowing them or familiarizing yourself with their characteristics will help you plan a good strategy.
4. Watch Out for Your Opponent’s Cards
Still, on cards, you can spy on your opponent’s card. Spying on your opponent’s card will give you a sneak peek into their strategy. And that’s great because if you have a clue of what your enemy has in mind, you can formulate a winning strategy. You’d just have to counter their anticipated moves, and that’s it. You win!Â
You can find your opponent’s card by hovering over his axie and clicking on it. Like chess, this enables you to preempt them from several moves ahead and prevent certain damages to your axies.
Now, peeking into your opponent’s cards isn’t something you leave for the middle of the game. You want to do it right at the start because it will help you form a killer strategy, including a few counter moves.
5. Use Combos!
Another way of using your cards to the max in Axie Infinity is by combos. The combination of certain cards produces more powerful effects than simply using one card. And that’s why they are a must-have in your Axie Infinity winning strategies.
Here is a list of some top combos that will make you invincible in the arena.
Let’s go.
Nut Crackers
You can achieve this combo by combining the nut crack and the nut throw cards. It can deal up to 165 damage when used against tank axies (plant, reptile, and dusk).
DT Thorny
You get this combo by combining the soothing song card and allergic reaction. With this, you can bypass the enemy’s shield and inflict damage with the “Increase Damage” effect of the allergic reaction.
Disguise + Vegetal bite
This combo allows you to gain and steal energy. It is most suitable for the first round and is one of the best combos you can do with your frontline in round one.
Anesthetic Bait + Snail Shell
This combo applies the two most powerful defensive cards to create a stronger defense. Plus, it also gives an added advantage of a decent shield and attack and allows you to stun your opponent’s attacking axie as you shut down their combo.Â
Sunder Claw + Third Glance
This is a bug axie combo. It forces the opponent to discard all their cards and rely on three cards drawn every round.
It’s the perfect defense against being “comboed” because your opponent would have to discard unused cards. Don’t forget that you won’t be the only one in the arena doing combos. That’s why you need the “Sunder Claw + Third Glance” combo. It is a secret weapon that will protect you from being on the receiving end of combos.
Risky Fish + Hero’s Bane
This combo is suited for attacking a tank (plant, reptile, and dusk) with an aqua. You can deal considerable damage with this combo despite the class disadvantage between them.
Death Mark + Sinister Strike
You can use this powerful beast combo if you are in the last stand. It delivers a deadly strike, which I recommend, and is an effective combo to finish off the final axie.
So far, I have helped you with seven powerful combos that can take your game to the next level. You want to take your time to learn these combos and many others. This way, you can work towards incorporating them into your Axie Infinity winning strategies.
If you want to improve your win rate, learn combos, and most importantly, use combos! Nuff said. Back to the strategies.
6. Feel Free to Pass the Turn
It is not an effective strategy to pass a turn in some games. But that is so not the case with Axie Infinity. In Axie Infinity, missing a turn in the game is actually an energy-saving strategy.
Let me explain how.
Players get three Energy at the start of a match and gain two after every round. Sometimes, especially during the first turn, you can pass the turn. When you miss a turn, you save up the energy from the first turn and carry it over to the next.
So, it looks like this.
At the beginning of the match, you have three Energy. When you pass your turn, you carry over the three Energy you left unused to the next turn. Now, add the three Energy to the two Energy you get after each successive turn. And now you have five energy.
This gives you more energy than your opponent who didn’t pass his turn. And a higher amount of energy allows you to cast more cards and create more powerful combos.
But saving energy isn’t the only benefit of missing a turn. You can also benefit from passing a turn in another way. It could help you gather more cards for a powerful combo.
Always remember that Axie Infinity is a game of strategy. Every move can be a strategy for you, including passing a turn. So, don’t be in a hurry to play, you can always pass that turn.
But Hey, Know When NOT to Pass That Turn
In the game, some card abilities can steal your energy. So, even if it is advantageous sometimes to pass the turn and save energy for an effective attack. There are times when you have to use up your energy or risk losing it to your opponent.
So, when your opponent has cards like a bug signal, and vegetal bite at the start or at any point in the game, anticipate an energy steal. And in that case, use your energy and don’t pass a turn, else you’d have saved up all that energy for your enemy.
Now That You Have Some Aces Up Your Sleeves
Now that you have learned some winning strategies, let me introduce you to one important winning strategy. You can improve your win ratio by playing the game often. Yes, at the beginning, you might lose quite a few battles. But your strategy actually improves by losing battles. That’s the really cool thing about Axie Infinity.
So, when you lose a game, try again. But be sure to take the pains to replay the game you lost, and review your strategy. You will certainly see a move or decision to improve on. When you do this often, your game plan gets better and more refined over time.
Alright, so head over to Axie Infinity and try these Axie Infinity winning strategies. Then let me know how they worked for you.
Till the next post, have fun!
