Gala, the main company behind blockchain gaming platform Gala Games and later, web3 music hub Gala Music, once again surprised newsletter insiders (like me, on July 26) as it teased out Gala Film. It’s the latest decentralized platform to join the Gala Web3 ecosystem.

In the sweet newsletter issue, Gala briefly described its evolution from a gaming company to an entire universe of entertainment applications, sharing rewards and control among creatives and fans.

Previously, Gala focused on developing Gala Games. It has since then launched popular and fun titles such as Town Star. Later, it introduced Gala Music, partnering with artist Snoop Dogg to release one of the earliest and most polished adaptations of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in music.

Gala Film: The Next Frontier of Gala

Gala’s vision for Gala Film involves the same principles it embraced with Gala Games and Gala Music. It’s all about empowering creators and making sure they own and get rewarded for the content they produce.

Having popularized the role of “nodes” in the decentralized Web3, Gala is bringing the concept of “shared ownership and rewards” to movie-making. This means everyone can rightfully own their entertainment content, and at the same time, support their favorite film creators worldwide.

The VOX Feature

Gala and Blue Eyes Entertainment are also unveiling a new partnership with this film project. They got plans for this upcoming animated feature film based on VOX and the Gala Games platform.

Into the Galaverse

This adventure short film celebrates Web3 experiences as imagined by Gala. It will feature IRL (in real life) experiences in the metaverse.

How does Gala Film tie in with Gala Games?

Since this creative video and storytelling platform is powered by Gala, you can expect that whatever $GALA tokens you’re holding now will have more use cases for web3 entertainment.

At this point, we’re still early on the news. We have little to know about this movie platform and how it will welcome film creators. But, as with the success of Gala Games and Gala Music, Gala Film has the potential to give power back to independent moviemakers and their fans.

What’s in the Gala Games Town Crush Challenge?

The Town Crush Challenge: June (July) Mayhem and its rewards are open to Gala Gold members. If you’re one of them, you can crush your way to your share of $400k rewards. This GALA reward pool will grow by $50 each time an Egg Storage building is sold.

Exciting ways to win in the Town Crush Challenge

To get more lives (hearts) and play some more after failing, you might want to purchase some Bag o’ Stars from the Gala Games store. By the way, you need to use the TOWN token.

You can then buy a lot of lives using your Bag o’ Stars and proceed to win all Town Crush levels.

Or, if you want, you can purchase an Egg Storage building for Town Star, and then use it to store 40 Eggs. If you own an Egg Storage, you’ll get two extra Eggsecutioners per Town Crush round. Again, you can only use TOWN to buy an Egg Storage.

What is Town Crush?

In a way, you could describe Town Crush as the blockchain game version of Candy Crush. Gala Games launched Town Crush in April 2022, hoping to test their new blockchain, the Gala Chain.

Basically, Town Crush is a “match 3” type of game. That is, you mix and match three items until you get the same type together. The items in Town Crush are from Town Star, which includes fruits, crops, special equipment, and buildings.

When you play Town Crush and complete levels, you can earn an on-chain token called TEST. That name literally points to how Gala Games uses Town Crush to test its Gala Chain.

What is Gala Games?

Gala Games is a blockchain gaming ecosystem that integrates non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with games. Part of its mission is to bring back the power to the players and give them freedom through play.

Axie Infinity Shards (AXS)

As mentioned earlier, there are five games currently in development, although Town Star is already in beta. 1.3 million users had been waiting in line to get in on these games. So, demand for the GALA token looks like it is going to surge in the near future.

Enjin

Enjin is a decentralized platform that allows users to create digital assets on Ethereum and incorporate them into games and apps. And the platform does this through the use of software development kits, called SDKs. 

The utility token of the Enjin platform is the Enjin coin. With this token, users will be able to store and manage their in-game assets as well as trade NFTs.

What the creators of The Sandbox are trying to do is create a decentralized platform for play-to-earn games where both gamers and creators can get rewarded. To facilitate transactions on the platform, the Sandbox makes use of a utility token, called SAND.

Town Star can be a little complicated at first for a beginner. But I’ll be hand-holding you through the process, so have no fears. Let’s get it!

What Is Town Star?

So, Town Star is Gala’s first play to earn game. It is a competitive farming game where players grow their town to become the most efficient and productive that it can be. 

There are daily challenges which you have to complete every 24 hours, and doing that gets you a thousand stars. And if you’re able to collect them all, you earn some Town Coin which has real world value. That means that you can sell it on any exchange where it is listed and get your fiat. 

Now, if you do very well in all your daily challenges and you’re one of the top players on the leaderboard, you stand the chance to win big prizes at the end of each week. And don’t forget that this is an NFT play to earn game. So, whatever NFT you buy belongs to you and you can trade it for cash in the future. That’s the power of blockchain technology.

Town Star is compatible with Windows and macOS and is playable in the browser.

Alright, moving on.

Is Town Star Free to Play?

Well, technically, Town Star is free to play. You don’t need to make any purchase or anything of the sort to begin. You’ll start out with a very basic town, one farmer, one silo, one store of logs, one fuel store, and one builder hut. But then as you grow your town, it gets increasingly more complex and sophisticated. 

At the free level, you can play the game and enjoy it. However, if you want to earn, and earn up to $200 a day from Town Star, you’d have to step it up. Consider it some sort of investment.

You step your game up by buying, at least, one NFT. Now, there are different NFTs in Town Star, and each one has different levels of rarity. So, the rarer and more expensive the NFT is, the more Town Coins you earn. And, of course, the more Town Coins you earn, the more you can earn per day.

I’ll attach a table with the list of NFTs and how many Town Coins each one will earn you at the bottom of the article. But for now let’s check out the different types of Town Star NFTs and what they can do for you.

Town Star NFTs

1. The Bots

The bots are helper workers. They help you carry out different in-game tasks and they do it really fast, faster than the standard workers your game comes with. I should add that they look really good while at it too. 

That said, there are all kinds of bots.

There is the FarmBot. This one is super super rare. But its utility hasn’t been revealed just yet.

Then we have the CraneBot which is an upgrade to your regular Town Star Builder. This one gets work done three times faster than the Town Builder you get at the start of the game.

The SaltyBot helps with harvesting and moving your farm crops, especially salt-related stuff.

And then there’s Mr. Puddles, who’s your water man. From watering your crops and animals to building, Mr. Puddles is always there for you.

Buggy Mr. Puddles is also your water guy and does the same thing as Mr. Puddles. But he’s a bit slower so don’t be too hard on him.

2. The Resource Stands

Stands help to generate a continuous source of a specific crop. So, to some degree, if you have enough resource stands, you might not really need to use your farming field that much. And if you use your Resource Stands well, you can radically transform your Town Star town.

There are different types of resource stands.

Wheat Stand: Wheat stands provide passive units of wheat to nearby buildings. These nearby buildings can be windmills or feed mills. 

Like all Town Star NFTs, wheat stands are of different rarity levels: standard, rare, epic, legendary, and ancient. The rarer the wheat stand, the more units of wheat it will be able to deliver.

Sugar Stand: These are just like wheat stands but they deliver sugar cane.

Cotton Stand: Cotton stands are extremely rare. And from their name, you can probably dice that they deliver cotton.

3. Extra Storage

First off, your town will come with a basic silo. A basic silo is very versatile, which means that it can store a wide variety of produce. 

That could be just fine initially but if you really want to play this game on the next level, you need to have a firm grip on what goes where in your town. At some point, you’d need to step up and get extra storage.

There are four different kinds of extra storage NFTs: wheat storage, brine storage, grape storage, and sugarcane storage. These specialized silos store varying quantities of the products they are designed for depending on their rarity level.

4. Fountains and Water Towers

These are some of the most useful NFTs in Town Star because they provide water and water is super important. They sort of function like ponds and they can easily be removed and replaced if need be.

There are Alfa Fountains and they have four rarity levels: OK, Good, Great, and Majestic. Just like other NFTs, the capacity of an Alfa Fountain increases as the rarity increases. That means more rare Alfa Fountains store larger quantities of water and therefore provide greater quantities of water to more squares.

There are also Water Towers, and they are like Alfa Fountains. You can buy them from the Town Star store, and they are available in four rarity levels: Standard, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.

5. Express Depot

You get this NFT as a complimentary gift when you upgrade to a Gala Gold account. Express Depots make faster deliveries than the standard depots which you get when you first begin the game.

6. Solar Panels

Solar panels passively send units of energy to surrounding squares just like Alfa Fountains and Water Fountains. They can be picked up and replaced instantly on demand.

How to Earn $200 A Day From Town Star as a Beginner

Alright, without further ado, let me show you how you can earn $200 a day from Town Star.

1. Start the Game

So, go to Gala.games and sign up. Check out the game section and look out for Town Star, that’s currently the only play-to-earn game that’s ready to play. 

2. Power Up to the Level of One

Now, for Town Star, you’d need to have at least one Gala Coin or one Town Coin to get the power level of one. Okay, so what’s that about? A power level of one means that you’ll be able to put NFTs in the game and earn from them. 

In case I haven’t already explained that, you can’t earn money from Town Star without buying an NFT and placing it in the game. And to be able to place NFTs in the game, you need to be at a power level of one, at least, which means that you have to buy some Gala.

After buying your Gala coins, you then have to move those coins to your Gala inventory. Go back to your Gala dashboard and click on Inventory, you’ll see “Get Gala ETH.” When you do that, it will show your address. Copy this and go to your wallet and send the Gala coins you bought from your wallet to your Galal inventory. In a matter of minutes, your Gala coins should reflect in your inventory, giving you the power of one.

3. Begin the Game!

When you click on the game, you will be shown a map, showing the entire world. You’d have the opportunity to pick any location you want, provided it’s open. For your own good, be sure to pick a location that is close to a town as well as a forest or a body of water. 

Remember that you have to sell your goods after you produce them. If you’re not close to a town, then you won’t have anywhere to sell your goods, which means no money, which means you can’t grow your town.

Anyway, pick up your location in an available spot, set up your town, and then name it. What you’ll get is a pretty simple town, one farmer, one silo, one store of logs, one fuel store, and one builder hut. Super simple. Your job from then on is to take your town from simple to super productive.

Harvesting

Alright, so your town will be a 16 by 16 square grid and the game begins with your farmer moving around harvesting some wheat and stacking it into a silo. Your first task is super simple: you want to complete your daily challenge which is to earn a thousand stars. Each task you complete earns you some stars. So, you need to carry out enough tasks so you can earn enough up to a thousand stars.

An example of a task that you can carry out is to sell wheat to a nearby town. To do that, click on your truck which contains 10 wheat. That’s the max capacity of the truck. When you click on the truck, it will go and deliver the wheat in it to the nearby town. This simple transaction will earn you ten stars. But then over time, the task will get increasingly difficult and the stars commensurately higher.

Don’t Forget…

When you complete the daily challenge, you’ll earn a thousand stars. But if you don’t have an NFT in the game, all you’ll have are the one thousand stars. You won’t get any Town Coin and Town Coins are the way you earn in the game. But since you already have your power of one, this is the time to cash in on it.

4. Buy an NFT

Even with the power of one, if you don’t have an NFT in the game, there’s no money to be made for you. So, how do you get your NFT? You could buy some from Gala but that’s crazy expensive. It would be more affordable if you buy from Open Sea. So, head on over to Open Sea.

When you get to Open Sea, look for the Town Star NFT collection. Make sure you look for a collection with the blue tick beside the name which shows that the collection is legit. There are many fake collections out there. And if you buy them, well, good luck.

Anyway, when you find the collection, go through and find an NFT that you like and that’s within your budget. Then connect your wallet and buy it. After buying your NFT, you want to move it to your inventory the same way you moved your Gala coins. After a few minutes, the NFT should reflect in your inventory.

5. Place Your NFT in the Game

Now, get back to the game. It’s time to place your NFT in your town. Click on the blue icon to your right which will show you all your available NFTs. Right now you have just the one. So, click on it and that will place your NFT in the game.

Go back and click on the rancher icon which will show you how many Town Coins you get to earn once you complete your daily challenge. As I said, that amount will depend on the number and type(s) of NFT you have in the game. 

Be sure to check out the table I will be attaching at the bottom of the article so you can see how much each NFT can earn you. So, you can do your calculations and find out how many NFTs you need to earn $200 a day from Town Star.

Don’t Forget That Your NFTs Are Yours

When you do your calculations, you might find that you have to spend quite the pretty penny getting NFTs that will earn you up to $200 per day. 

But don’t forget that you get to own these NFTs after you buy them. They are yours, which means that you can sell them in future if you get tired of the game or if you’re in a pinch. So, consider that when you think you’re spending too much money getting a useless game piece.

A Very Critical Tip If You Want to Earn $200 A Day From Town Star

Now, here’s one very important tip. When you begin, you’d have only 40 barrels of gasoline and each delivery you make takes one barrel but it only gives you ten stars. So, if you don’t produce more gasoline, you won’t be able to make up your 1000 stars. 40 barrels giving you ten stars each will only give you 400 stars.

So, how do you make your way out of that? Start producing gasoline the minute you begin the game. And yeah, I said producing because you can’t buy gasoline, you have to make it. How do you do that? Well, you need to get a refinery, which means you need money in the game. By the way, that money isn’t real money. It’s just like Monopoly money.

Anyway, if you want to make enough money to build a refinery, then you need to start making higher value goods because those sell for more money than basic goods like wheat and the rest. Higher value goods are flour, cakes, lollipops, those sorts of stuff. So, that’s what you want to make and sell.

Let’s take your wheat for example. You can buy a windmill from your shop which costs about $15,000. Again, Monopoly money, not real money. 

Now, use this windmill to mill your wheat into flour and then when you get your flour, proceed to sell it for money. When you earn enough and make a substantial income, you can then build your refinery. This will help you make gasoline so that you can have enough to complete your tasks and win your daily challenge.

A More Affordable Way to Earn From Town Star

Most of the NFTs you’d find on Open Sea would cost you, at least, $1000. And for some, that’s simply out of reach for now. If that’s the case for you, you can use this helpful trick.

If you go back to the list of Town Star NFTs that I shared with you, you’d see one that’s called an Express Depot. Now, an Express Depot is complimentary from Gala when you buy some Gala coins.

At the time of writing this article, Gala sells for about 34 cents. So, you can buy just as much as you can afford, and you will get an Express Depot for free, which you can place in the game.

Of course, considering that the NFT is complimentary, there’s a limit to how much you can actually earn from it. An Express Depot gives you only one Town Coin after you complete your daily challenge. At the current price, that’s about 17 cents per day or about $51 per month. 

Yes, it’s a far cry from your goal to earn $200 a day from Town Star. But it quickly adds up. In a year, if prices stay the same you’d earn $18k+ from that one NFT, which you probably spent about $30 – $50 acquiring. Not a bad deal, if you ask me. And don’t forget that prices will very likely grow. This is a new game and players are still getting in.

To wrap up, if you’re still thinking about Town Star and if it would be worth it to join, I’d advise you to give it a serious consideration. Of course, this is not financial advice. So, please, do your own research and make your own conclusions.

But I’m comparing this game to Axie Infinity. About a year ago, AXS (the native token for the Axie Infinity game), was just a little higher than what the Town Coin is worth right now. Axie Infinity players were just in their few thousands but the community was growing.

This article will focus on the first fully developed Game by Gala, Town Star. I will be reviewing the gameplay, the in-game assets. And most importantly, I will be showing you how to earn from the game. 

Whether you’re a newbie or not, make sure you stick around because there’s something in here for everyone. Even veterans will benefit from the hot tips I will be dropping in this article that will take your gameplay to the next level and earn you more cash.

Each week, the top players on the leaderboard win big prizes and every day, players complete challenges to unlock and collect TownCoin play-to-earn rewards! The goal is to grow, gather, and craft your way to building the most efficient and productive town imaginable.

Town Star is built on Gala’s decentralized network and utilizes the Ethereum blockchain. All assets in the games are NFTs, of course. This means that players can trade these assets on the secondary market for money.

Gameplay

Town Star is an immersive and strategic farming game that has found a large following among those who love the age-long practice of farming. The game tests your farming as well as your management skills. It involves utilizing limited space and resources to build, manage production, and craft goods from your farm’s output. 

The game also provides an AI workforce attached to your farm which you will manage to get maximum output and craft goods of higher quality.

Town star does not require you to choose specific actions of units like in other farming games. The game assigns you two tools that help you build and manage your farm. 

First are the buildings with specific functions and the AI workforce that helps run the farm. The AI workers function according to the building they are attached to. This means that AI workers attached to a barn will perform all the duties required in the barn. 

Now, the role of the AI workers in Town Star is predetermined. So, you are not required to control them. They pretty much work independently and because they are highly intelligent, they tend to be super-efficient with their assigned duties.

In Town Star, you’d have to heavily rely on your knowledge of the roles of the buildings and the AI workers. This is crucial if you’re going to create the most efficient and productive town possible. Don’t forget that you are supposed to do this using the limited space and money available.

How You Earn in Town Star

Town Star is a free-to-play game, which is awesome news for those without the resources to begin their venture into the world of play-to-earn gaming. 

Now, when you start the game, you get a limited supply of money and a farm. You’re then supposed to utilize these two resources you’re given to earn more money. For the most part, you will make your money from selling goods to nearby cities. And then from your income, you’ll cover the cost of running your farm and keep the rest as your net profit.

The first step to earning real money begins by accumulating as many Star points as possible. Your aim is to climb to the top 100 on the leaderboard. 

Now, how do you achieve this? There are a couple of ways to earn Star points. But primarily, you earn some Star points for every delivery you make to a nearby city. And the quality of the goods delivered determines the number of star points you get from the delivery. So, if your goods are really high quality, you’ll earn more star points than someone who delivers mediocre goods.

But if you find the competition to rank high on the leaderboard too tedious, you have other options. You can purchase some NFTs to earn some Star points as well. These NFTs come with special bonuses to production, characters to assist your workers, and more. 

Apart from boosting production, placing an NFT in your town also makes you eligible to earn Towncoin. 

What Is Towncoin?

Towncoin, ticker symbol $TOWN, is a fungible ERC-20 token which serves as the official play-to-earn reward of the Town Star game.

If you choose to, you can sell your TOWN tokens for cash on a crypto exchange, although it does involve a process.

First, when you earn a Towncoin, the token is added to your GalaChain Inventory. If you want to take your tokens out of the Gala ecosystem, you have to first convert it to the Ethereum network. This comes with some fees, so keep that in mind.

Once you’ve successfully converted your Town tokens, you can store them in your wallet. Or if you want to, you can exchange them at any crypto exchange you prefer.

In-Game Assets 

Town star’s architecture is consistent with the play-to-earn model. It has several in-game assets which you can earn from. The assets include the NFTs and the TownCoin – the game’s native coin.

2. The Bots

The bots are faster and more efficient than AI workers of the same function. Some are available in the native market, while most of them are available only on the secondary market. 

The bots are of different types and their names indicate their function. They include: FarmBot, Cranebot, Elfbot, Saltybot, Mr. Puddles, and Buggy Mr. Puddles.

3. Resource Stands

The stands provide a continuous source of a specific crop, cutting out the need for farming fields to some degree. They are a great addition to your town in the game. 

Examples of stands include; the wheat stand, sugar stand, and cotton stand.

4. Extra storage 

The extra storage is for efficiency purposes. It gives you a better handle on what goes where on your farm, rather than storing everything in one basic silo. 

There are several types of extra storage like wheat storage, brine storage, grape storage, and sugar cane storage.

5. The last category of NFTs in the game includes: alfa fountain, water tower, express depot, and solar panels.

The Competitions

In the gameplay, I told you that you earn from the game by participating in the competitions. Now let me explain how you can do that. 

There are two competitions in the game which I will cover in this article – the weekly competition and the daily challenge. 

Let’s start with the weekly competition.

Town Star Weekly Competitions

This competition started even before the developers added play-to-earn mechanics to the game. Every player participates in this competition just by playing the game and earning star points. But to win the prize attached to the competition, you must accumulate enough star points to rank high on the leaderboards. 

The weekly competition begins every Tuesday and ends at the end of the week. The top 100 players on the leaderboard share the weekly payout of 198,000 Gala. 

Meta Changes in the Weekly Competitions

The meta changes are announced weekly on Sunday or Monday before the next competition begins. The announcement of the meta changes is highly anticipated in the Gala games community because it affects many aspects of the gameplay. These include worker wages, production costs, proximity bonuses, dollar and point values of certain items, and more.

If you’re still confused as to what meta changes are, meta changes are pretty much dynamic rules of the game. They change periodically, which is why you need to make sure you keep up as they affect your gameplay.

Daily Challenges

The daily challenge is another way to earn from the game. And to participate, you need to own in-game NFTs. As you can probably tell from the name, you’d need to complete your task within 24 hours. This task could be anything from earning a certain number of Stars to shipping a minimum quantity of a particular good. Anything along those lines, really. 

For the Town Star daily challenge, each day’s task resets at 0.00 UTC for everyone. So, you have from 0.00 UTC to 23.59 UTC to complete the daily challenge.

How to Unlock and Claim Play-to-Earn Rewards 

Town Star is free to play. But simply playing the game does not guarantee your earning. There are certain things you must do in the game to earn. 

1. Get Yourself Some Gala Power

The amount of liquid GALA, TownCoin, NFT owned, account age, and maybe in the future referrals determines your Gala power. The simplest way to get started with this is to acquire GALA or TownCoin and store them in your wallet.

2. Secure Your Season Pass

Town Star has seasons. And if you wish to earn TownCoin, you’d have to hold an NFT ticket known as the season pass. The pass gives you access to the daily earning potential of the daily challenge.

3. Place Your NFTs in the Game

Each NFT is connected to a specific amount of daily TownCoin that you can earn. NFTs must be placed in-game at some point during the 24 hours and be active when you claim your TownCoin. Even if you placed them in your town just two minutes before the countdown expires, they are still eligible for earnings as long as you meet the other requirements. 

4. Claim Your Rewards Before the Deadline

Finally, you have to claim your coin before the 24 hours countdown expires or forfeit the reward.

A Final Word Before You Go

Now, I need to clarify that the play-to-earn server is different from the free-to-play server. And the major difference is that there is no competition in the play-to-earn servers. The leaderboards are only there to show how you are doing compared to other players. 

There are no GALA rewards on the play-to-earn servers either. 

So, in the play-to-earn server, you earn from playing the game without actually participating in competitions.

Town Star is a competitive farming game for those who love farming. The game requires players to build a farm, manage production, and use the ingredients gotten from the farm to craft goods. 

The game provides you with an AI workforce that you will employ to expand and grow your town. The AI workforce also helps you craft goods of higher value. They do this by taking the quickest and most efficient route to accomplish their job.

Your goal in the game is to produce the most efficient and productive town by using what you know about the AI workers and the buildings available.

Now, there is money allocated to you when you start the game. So, you use this money to build systems that will continue producing money by selling groups of goods to nearby cities. This then earns you star points based on the value and production difficulty of the good. This leads us to the next point.

How Do You Earn Money from Playing Town Star?

There are two ways you can earn money from Town Star.

Daily Challenges: You need to purchase an NFT to participate in the daily challenge. These NFTs are available on the Gala NFT platform or secondary marketplaces like Opensea. 

Your daily challenges depend on the number of NFTs you own. It also determines what you earn from the challenge. 

But small caveat, the Gala Power caps earnings from the daily challenge. So the earnings from the daily challenge is finite and has a cap. 

Weekly Competitions: The weekly leaderboard features the top 100 players to earn star points that receive the sum of 198,000 GALA. This competition requires you to play the game and accumulate as many Star points as possible. You participate in the weekly competition simply by playing the game and earning points. 

These competitions make Town Star unique because they add the competitive slant that most farming simulation games lack. 

In the game, you are not just managing a farm but also competing for a place in the leaderboard. This potential to earn more from the game encourages players to give the game their best. For me such competitiveness makes a game more attractive. 

The NFTs are rare which adds to their value. Plus, they exist in various categories as well. And depending on the type of NFT you have, you get benefits in the game. Besides, you can also trade them on external marketplaces. 

Town Star NFTs include: The Bots, Resource Stands, Extra Storage, Fountains, Water Towers, Express Depot, and Solar Panels. The developers have other NFTs in the works right now. So, you might want to follow the project’s socials to get all the updates.

2. Mirandus

Mirandus is a fantasy role-playing game (RPG). It is similar to SANDBOX games, without maps or quest givers, which gives you the freedom to create your own experience. 

The beautiful thing about Mirandus is it utilizes the free-to-play model. So, you don’t need to make any purchases to start the game. You can go for adventures and earn in the game without owning an outpost or a homestead.

What I find most fascinating about the game, though is the storyline. It is a three-part story set in a massive world ruled by five player-monarchs. The story starts with meeting a strange traveler and culminates in an adventure to the unknown magical land of Mirandus. You will appreciate the beauty of this story if you are a lover of fantasy stories.

The game involves you setting out on an epic adventure with other exemplars to the magical land of Mirandus guided by a strange traveler known as “the guide.” The mysterious stranger leads you to Materium, a magical substance that would help you in the adventure. While on your journey, you’ll also have to battle monsters of the deep woods and dungeons.

The game offers freedom of choice as I said earlier. So, you can be the knight of a monarch (remember, five monarchs rule the land of Mirandus) or go for an adventure and fight monsters. 

In Mirandus, owning property confers power and is also a source of safety. For instance, owning a homestead protects you from attacks. The more sophisticated the homestead, the better the protection it gives. So, naturally, it’s every player’s dream to own property.

How Can You Make Money From Mirandus?

When you start the game, you’ll get a free avatar, but this avatar has limited capacity and abilities compared to the exemplars. So, if you really want to go hardcore, you want to get an exemplar, which of course costs money.

There are five types of exemplars purchased as NFTs; the elf, halfling, orc, dwarf, and humans. Each exemplar is skilled in a specific function, and it is this specialization that stands them out. 

To progress further in the game you will need the stronger and more specialized exemplars. You can also trade these exemplars as NFTs and make money from the game.

There are other ways you can make money from Mirandus as well:

• Owning the deed to land in Mirandus empowers you to decide who builds on it, and how to share the profits from the goods and services made on your land. The deed is an NFT that you also can trade on secondary markets.
• You can farm, craft weapons, or tools that you can sell for money or go for an adventure. An adventure is an opportunity to earn Materium, the game’s reward. Materium is an ERC20 token, and you can trade it on external exchanges.
• Other in-game assets such as buildings, ships, and docks are NFTs tradeable on secondary markets.
• The goal of Mirandus is to own land rich in materium. So, you can purchase land and mine for materium.
• You can farm or stake NFTs obtained from the game and earn profits from them. 

3. Spider Tank

Spider Tank is a free-to-play multiplayer brawler game. Players own and upgrade tanks, outfit them with powerful armaments, and battle it out in one of the many Spider Tank arenas. The game is still undergoing testing in beta mode, though. 

By the way, Spider Tank is different from Town Star and Mirandus because it is developed by Gamedia and not Gala’s in-house developers. 

What appeals to me in this game is how easy it is to play. With just your tank, you are good to brawl in the arena. Since Spider Tanks is free-to-play, I’m guessing players will get a free tank to start the game. But we cannot be sure about this for now until the game’s release.

My search for how to earn from the game gave me these three mechanisms which are not elaborate. I believe we will learn more when it launches.

• Skill-based competition
• Resource collection
• A player-driven upgrade cycle that allows players to earn real rewards. 

4. Legacy 

Legacy gives a simulated version of business board games like Monopoly. It was created by Peter Molyneux and 22cans and is hosted on the gala platform. 

Legacy fuses entrepreneurship and capitalism into gaming by allowing you to manage and grow a business. This makes the game a pioneer in the NFT business game genre. Gala games described it as the first-ever blockchain Business Sim. It is still in the works and is set to launch this year. So, watch out for it.

Legacy is a town-building game that focuses on commerce and expansion. In Legacy, you design products, make them, trade with other players, and put your skills to the test in competitions for leaderboard positions and win prizes.

5. Fortified

Fortified is one of the games from Gala still under development. Like Spider Tanks, another developer, ROUND2 created the game.

According to the official Gala blog, Fortified is an epic PvP Tower Defense game set in a fantastical medieval world. So, if you’re a fan of fantasy games with a medieval theme, this is the game you want to look out for.

So, how do you play?

As a player, you get to compete with other players to come up with the best tower defense strategies. You’ll have an arsenal of weapons in your possession to do that from basic arrows and archery to the arcane arts. And to make things super interesting, you could choose to settle scores with your rival on neutral territory. Or if you want things on your terms, you could bring the fight home.

Now, in Fortified, just like in Mirandus, owning property is important. However, you can still play this game even without owning any land or NFT.  You could even get to win a chunk of the prize pool. All you have to do is set the terms of engagement, build your tower network and train your NFT-based troops to attack. Sounds fun, yeah?

6. Echoes of Empire

Echoes of Empire is an epic, 4X sci-fi strategy game steeped in mystery, intrigue, and a thousand years of Royal rule. Factions war against one another on a galactic scale, setting the stage for an upstart hero (you the player) and your meteoric ascent to power.

Gala released a proposal for the game, and the community voted for the development to proceed. So, it is set to launch in Q4 of this year. You definitely want to look out for this game from Gala.

One remarkable thing about the Gala platform is the quality of the games they launch. I also noticed that some of the games under development are likely to follow the free-to-play model. This means that the developers are throwing the doors open to more gamers who cannot afford the entry requirements for some NFT games. And I think that’s really nice.

What’s the Big Idea Behind Mirandus?

As a game, Mirandus gives players absolute freedom of choice. I think that’s the most alluring thing about this game. In some ways you could say it somewhat resembles Guild of Guardians but these games are actually very different.

The game is similar to SANDBOX games where there are no maps or quest givers. So, players can choose to go out into the wilderness alone where they will fight off monsters of the deep woods and dungeons. They can also serve as a knight in any monarch’s court or set up shop in any of the five great citadels of the realm.

When you step into the world of Mirandus for the first time, you take on the role of avatars. Being an avatar is completely free but as you might tell, your powers and abilities will be limited.

If you want to take things to the next level, though, you can buy an exemplar avatar. Exemplar avatars come with powers and abilities beyond those of others in Mirandus. So, that’s an upgrade you might want to consider if you’re thinking of going hardcore with Mirandus.

That said, one other thing you should know about is “deeds.” Players have the opportunity to hold land deeds that allow them to claim parts of the wilderness and set up holdfasts according to their desires. These holdfasts range from small farms to massive cities, anything you can imagine, really.

Exploring Mirandus comes with a lot of risks. But there’s also a lot of rewards, mostly in the form of Materium. Materium is an arcane substance that is abundant in the world of Mirandus.

It is concentrated magic that allows players to channel its power to cast spells, craft the impossible, and even raise a slain hero from the dead!

What’s the Story in Mirandus?

The story behind Mirandus is in three parts. And the player in Mirandus is expected to partake in any story of his choice.

The First Part

The first story starts with a weary and worn-out traveler wandering into a crowded tavern at dusk.  The haggard-looking traveler whose gender cannot be distinguished from their looks wanders to a corner of the tavern. 

You, the player, approach the traveler who shows you a sign with a three-word question “Seek ye magic?” And as curiosity gets the better of you, you find out you need to learn more. This takes you to the second part of the story.

The Second Part

You move to the second part of the story, where you are now aboard an old ship with other travelers. The traveler from the tavern is also there, only now, you all refer to them as the guide. 

Everyone aboard the ship is scared and confused because the voyage is quite the tempestuous and turbulent one. The guide, though, is unperturbed on this trip to Mirandus because they’ve been on this journey before. 

Naturally, the guide sights Mirandus first and shouts “Land ho!”. And in a few hours, you and the other travelers are standing on the beach at a place called Narrow’s Landing. You then gradually begin to make your way to a towering rock ridge which your guide calls the Citadel of the Sun. 

Finally, you get to see your co-travelers, adventurers from all walks of life including halflings, dwarves, humans, and orcs. There are also craftsmen, merchants, mages, and more. The guide leads your ragtag band towards the forest. And just before the edge of the forest, he stops and turns. “It won’t be long now. Prepare your eyes for the greatest wonders they yet have seen, and prepare your weapons for dangers uncertain.”

The Third Part

You’re now in the forest along with a few other adventurers that persisted. Many turned back but you all chose to forge ahead. The journey has been quite perilous so far, with two lives lost to the wolves. 

But the band of adventurers get a taste of magic when the guide introduces you all to Materium, a glowing magical stone. “This stone is infused with Materium, which holds many powers, but they may only be claimed by a worthy hand,” says the guide. They then use the stone as a beacon, leading the way through the dark and treacherous forest.  

As you go on, the guide promises to show you Materium’s power. “Tonight I will show you its greatest power, we have nearly arrived.” 

The guide leads the group to a graveyard and takes you to a dead elf lying on an altar. He performs magic with the stone and the dead elf resurrects, but he vanishes in the process. He has shown the player the power of Materium and the adventure into Mirandus begins.

You’re probably spellbound now, right? Well, that’s the story of Mirandus. Let’s now check out the various assets available in this game.

In-Game Assets in Mirandus

Exemplars

Exemplars are elite avatars with special abilities, which allow them to perform certain actions better than others. These exemplars are sold as NFTs and at the time of writing 87% have been sold already. 

There are five exemplars available to the player: the elf, halfling, orc, dwarf, and human. But the elf and halfling avatars are currently sold out. 

Deeds 

In the world of Mirandus, property is power—and deeds are the means by which players can build a place of safety and commerce. Players can purchase deeds for different property types, and each deed is a template that can be “stamped” on the terrain of Mirandus to make it your own. 

A player can hold the deed to several types of properties available in the game.  

Ownership of property in Mirandus confers power. When you own a deed, you decide who can build there and what share of the profits you get from goods and services made on your land. 

Deeds are also a means of safety and protection for the player as players are only safe within the walls of their own property in Mirandus. 

Naturally, better deeds mean better walls, which will keep higher-level monsters out. So for instance, someone with a citadel deed would be better protected than someone with just a farm hamlet deed.

A Farm Hamlet deed might only come with a rustic wood fence, but a Citadel deed comes with walls that will repel monsters of very high levels.

Buildings

Mirandus has many custom buildings available to players, from archery to shops, stands, and stables. 

Players can erect buildings on another player’s land. However, players must own a building that corresponds to the size of the plot and can only build freely once they’ve paid their lease to the owner who sets the terms. 

Players who farm and craft are the drivers of the Mirandus economy. And then there are shop owners who buy these items as NFTs, thereby owning these items on the blockchain.  Shop owners also have the chance to upgrade the items in their store to access higher profits. 

Ships

This is one of the newly added in-game assets. Players discover the wonders of Mirandus by sailing the surrounding seas as adventurers. 

There are various categories of ships available to the player. And each new level is swifter, larger, and can carry more crew and cargo.

Docks

Docks provide a convenient place to anchor ships after their voyages, whether it’s your ship or that of your friends. 

A simple Dock can only accommodate a few small ships like the Picard, Crayer, and the Hoy. Larger docks can accommodate both small ships and larger vessels like the Cog, Carrack, and Caravel.

Materium

Materium is an important magical element of Mirandus that players earn by playing Mirandus. It can be taken out of the game as an ERC-20 token, and can be traded on secondary markets for money.

Materium can exist in many forms. In its solid state, it exists as an infused ore. In its liquid state, it exists as a potion with untold powers. Materium can also exist in a gaseous state, flowing in the air itself through the skies of Mirandus. 

That said, Materium has several in-game uses. It can be used to heal wounds and restore vitality. It also has the life-giving ability to raise the dead. Those who wield enough of it have the possibility of immortality. 

As if these feats are not extraordinary enough, Materium also confers the player with the ability to perform impossible feats and cast powerful spells. Wielders can cast spells that produce healing, wards of protection, and can rain down fire on foes. 

But it gets even more interesting as Materium can serve as a substitute for various ingredients in crafting recipes. It can also be used to infuse magic into common items to create very powerful weapons, armor, and other wondrous items. 

Players can even use Materium to teleport objects or even themselves!

Making Money on Mirandus

Well, Mirandus is free-to-play, which means that anyone can play without necessarily owning any in-game asset. Players also don’t need to own an outpost or a homestead to go on their adventures. However, as I mentioned, owning real estate adds a whole new economic layer.

In-game assets like exemplars and the likes exist as NFTs. Therefore, a player looking to play the game and earn in-game assets needs an Ethereum-based wallet such as Trustwallet or Metamask to store in-game purchases and earnings.

Wrapping Up

Mirandus is available online in the PC version only for now, and it would appear that there are no plans for a mobile version just yet. But then again, developers have stated that you won’t need a super sophisticated computer to play Mirandus. So, running this game on your computer should be pretty straightforward.
